Wednesday May 31, 2006

I got out for a walk at 7:15. It was really nice. I walked for an hour. It was housework day around here. I had loads of laundry to do. Jared and I cleaned out his room and closet. It was a major undertaking. Between that and laundry I was busy all day and there is still more to do. I took Katie to piano at 4:00. We had TV dinner night. I am really whipped.

Tuesday May 30, 2006

I got up early today and went for a walk at 8:00. It was nice, not too hot but not cool either. Jared was awake when I got home. I knew the minute I got in the door because the T.V. was on. That is one thing I do when I am alone. Turn the damn thing off. I told the kids to get ready because we were going to return my ipod. The traffic was a nightmare. And it was only 10:00. After we exchanged it I took them to the mall. They have been begging to go there for a long time. We shopped a little. Jared rode the merry go round. I got them lunch and ice cream. We went shopping a little more and then came home. The kids wanted to go swimming so I called Lisa and they came along. The pool was really nice. Not really cold like it has been. I swam a couple of laps. Lisa did too while I watched Max. I let Katie stay at the pool with her friend. Trevor came over and played with Jared. I am working on downloading songs on my ipod. It will be so nice to have it working properly.

Monday May 29, 2006

Today the kids and I got up and ready early and left for Carolyn's house around 9:35. Seans little brother and sister, Kayla and Jonathan came over with Melissa and Alex. They all got life jackets on and went in the lake. Carolyn and I went back up and packed up lunch and snacks. Alex has gotten a lot bigger. We put a towel on the boat seat and he sat there in between us. I could tell he wanted to play with something but had grown bored with what we had there. He was starting to get hot so Carolyn and Melissa took him up. Melissa came back and got in the lake with the kids. Soon we got them the come in and started packing the van back up. When we got home I made dinner. I was so tired I could have fallen asleep in the middle of it. After dinner I laid on the couch and fell asleep for a little while. Jared is in the bathtub now. I will make sure Katie takes one and then I am checked out for the night.

Sunday May 28,2006

Today I got out at 9:00 to take a walk. It was the first time since I got sick. It was warm but not too hot yet. I spent most of the day trying to get my ipod to download. Terry and I both worked on it. As we accomplished one hurdle another would pop up. After several hours of spinning our wheels we decided to take it to the Apple store to get fixed. Carolyn (my sister) called today. They had a nice trip. Chuck wasn't feeling too well. We made plans to go over her house tomarrow so the kids can swim in the lake.

Saturday May 27, 2006

I took the kids to the pool first thing this morning before they could pester me. I had promised Jared I would because when I took him yesterday it started thundering soon after we got there. I took a quick run to Target and spent the rest of the day straightening up the house. I was trying to download songs on my ipod and the computer froze up. Terry told me to disconnet the ipod even though it said do not disconnet. Now it is not working. We both think it is fried. We took Katie to dinner tonight at Up the Creek. We were celebrating her graduation. The coconut shrimp was good but the rest was just OK. I think we will just stick with Outback Steakhouse.

Friday May 26, 2006

Our day started very early. We got to Mashburn at 8:15 for Katie's graduation ceremony . The gym was already pretty crowded but we did find seats on the 4th row. Katie got an award for the A-B honor role. She and her friend Laura like a boy named Tyler. He has long blonde shaggy curly hair. He also got A-B honor role along with some other awards. I think he is cute. Terry thinks he is trouble. Towards the end of the ceremony they did a program of pictures flashing on the screen to music. It was really cute at first. They covered everyone. It went on a little long. It came to a point that would have been a perfect ending. Everyone was fooled and started clapping. Then the pictures kept on popping up just like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. They apparantly never heard the saying less is more. The pictures kept comming for another 15 minutes. I love pictures but this was truly a case of overkill. Finally the ceremony ended and the 5th graders marched up and down the corridors. We waited by Jared's classroom. Some of the mothers were getting all teary eyed. Not me. For goodness sakes it is only 5th grade. Now High School graduation or getting married those I can see as tear worthy.

Thursday May 25, 2006

Today I went to Jared's award ceremony. Its kind of silly they sort of invent things to say in order that everyone gets an award. Jared got best creative writer. I thought that was nice. Katie dropped off her award for me to take home. It was Recess Soccer Queen. I laughed at that one. Jared got all upset because she got one in soccer and he didn't. I told him doing creative writing well was probably more important. Here are some things I was thinking about today.

I'd rather be walking along the beach picking up shells at sunset instead of
Walking through the house picking up dirty laundry at midday

I'd rather go out and have a nice lobster dinner instead of
Cooking a dinner at home that no one will appreciate

I'd rather go on a shopping spree and buy clothes and shoes instead of
Buying produce and cereal at the grocery store

I'd rather do almost anything than do housework

I'd rather be at home with my family doing nothing than
traveling the world

I'd rather get a hug and a kiss from my kids than
be rich and famous

Wednesday May 24, 2006

I slept better and in my own bed last night. I still have a cold but not quite as awful as the last few days. I did a lot of running around . Katie wanted a new red top and red shoes for graduation on Friday. They were hard to find but I bought 2 tops for her and a pair of sandals. She did not like the sandals. I took the books back to the library. Thank goodness Jared found the missing one. Upon penalty of death. I took Katie to piano. We gave Maryanne a pin. A noah's ark pin. It is signed. I think she liked it. The kids said I was sucking up because I forgot the piano recitel. Maybe I was.

Tuesday May 23, 2006

I slept in the recliner last night. Only from about 12:00 to 3:00. I couldn't go back to sleep. I was still running a fever today. It was nice having the house to myself. I watched 3 Tammie movies in a row. Then the old cheaper by the dozen came on. I had to go to the grocery store and pick up the kids. I missed a good portion of it. Katie watched the end with me. I made hamburers tonight. I need to go back and rest as soon as I find Jareds lost library book.

Monday, May 22. 2006

I slept on the couch last night. Not because I was mad at Terry. Because I was catching a cold and my nose was stuffed up. I can prop my head higher on the couch. I did not sleep well at all. I had Lisa take the kids to the bus stop. Terry was working at home today. He kept telling me to go lay down but I can't. I was running 100.1 this afternoon. I got all of my chores done but did not feel like cooking. He went out and got us Subway. I hope that I can sleep better tonight.

Sunday May 21, 2006

I took the kids to the pool around 11:00. I brought my Ipod and cell phone. I called Lisa up and she came and brought the kids. We sat on the steps and watched Max and talked. We stayed almost 2 hours. It started clouding up so we went home. I invited them over for lunch. We made the kids peanut butter sandwiches. While we were there Maryanne (piano teacher) called. I had completelly forgotten about the recitel. I felt so bad because they had been practicing songs together for weeks.

Katie wanted to go to the park so we said just for a little while. We ended up calling Tracy. They came over and we stayed another 2 hours. Lisa and I were so tired. And I said I was'nt going to do anything today. Then I cooked dinner. I made a fried rice dish that came out pretty good. I still had to go to the grocery store. Now I am home and I swear I'm not doing anything else.

May 20, 2006

This has been a hectic day. Katie and I took a walk and then got ready for her soccer game. We got there at 11:30. I talked to my sister Nancy the first half of the game. Then Katie got mad at me so I hung up and watched the rest of the game. It was 0 to 0. Jared had his soccer party at 2:00. They were leaving as we were arriving. Katie had to be at her party at 4:00. Thank goodness her coach is bringing her home. I don't want to do anything tomarrow. I will probably take the kids to the pool because I won't be able to avoid it.

Friday May 19. 2006

Today I started out so well on my dieting. Tracy and I went for a walk. I did body electric (toning exercises) I took the kids to the pool after school. I saw Jody there. She even noticed that I lost weight. You would have thought it would inspire me to keep going.

Terry (hubby) ordered cinnamon sticks with pizza that you coat with icing. I caved and had two and added insult to injury by having a bread stick to boot. Now I am just tired and mad at myself. Oh well as Scarelet O'Hara say's "Tomarrow is another Day".

May 18, 2006

Today is Thursday. No soccer, no boy scouts, no piano. Yeah. My big plans are to watch a movie in my bedroom tonight. Lisa had to put her dog down today. He was 14. He had suffered a stroke. I watched her boys while that was going on. Her husband Tim left for Florida this morning before all of this came about. At least she has her Mother here.

My kids were driving me crazy today. They wanted to go to the pool, to the park or anywhere. I did not feel like it and was watching Trevor and Max. I certainly was not taking four kids swimming. Besides which the pool is like ice water. I think it only got up into the 70's today.

I am torn about summer coming. On one hand it will be nice to sleep in and not have to rush around getting ready for school. On the other hand Jared and Katie will make me nuts wanting to be entertained 24/7. Having children was my number one priority. Now I advise people to heed that old chinese proverb. Be careful what you wish for you just might get it.

Wednesday May 17, 2006

Hi My name is Janet and this is my first day writing a blog. If it is as easy for me to write as it is for me to talk then I will do great and the blog will be prolific. I was born in Houston, Texas. Thus yellow rose. My husband and I moved to Atlanta in 1993. It is a beautiful place with lots of trees and stunning landscapes. The weather is just wonderful. The winters are mostly mild with the occasional snow. The falls are lovely with brillant oranges , yellows and reds. The north Georgia mountains are definitely something so see at that time of year. In april all of the new growth comes out with blossoming dogwoods, daffodils, bradford pears, ect. There were no seasons in Houston so this is even more enchanting to me.

We have two children, Katie 11, and Jared 7. I had Katie's name picked out 5 years before conception. It is Katherine Nicole. When I was pregnant with Jared my husband claimed his right to name him. He wouldn't tell me what it was until one day before his birth. It was Jared James. I told him that was good with me. I had a crush on a boy named Jared in the 6th grade.

I have made some wonderful true friends since living here. Tracy who hails from Arkansas and is a RN. She just got a full time job as a school nurse. I told her I am jealous because I would love to have a job with the same hours as my children have. Lisa is my next door neighbor. She is from Florida and is the artsy type. Like me. We both collect barbies. Karen is from New York and hold three jobs. She and Lisa are also photographers and are doing their first gig friday.

I have been trying to work on my weight lately. I've been walking and doing toning exercises. I have lost 2 1/2 pounds in 3 days. I am hoping to lose 10 pounds by the time I go to Houston this summer. I will chart my progress to give me some incentive.
