Christmas Vacation

I've really been enjoying Christmas Vacation with my family. The kids are off for another week and Terry has been off too. We haven't done much just hanging around the house. Katie was sick for the 1st part of it and now Jared has not been feeling well. Terry and I made a bunch of treats. I made snickerdoodles and helped him make popcorn balls and rice krispie treats. He also made homemade noodles and roast beef. We went and saw a movie today. A new action adventure with Tom Cruise. Jack Reacher. It was good. I enjoyed it. It actually had a good story plot. I took the week off from cleaning. Now I have to start all over again tomorrow. FUN. I hate housework. Katie has big plans for New Years. We aren't doing anything special. I've been exercising doing Body Electric over vacation. My arms are sore. I guess it working. We have been staying up late and sleeping in. I never want vacation to end. I'm loving it.

Five Years Past

It has been five years since I posted on my blog. My how fast time goes by. Katie is 18 now and Jared is 14.
We are in the midst of the teenage years. Katie has a job at Kids R Kids. She worked full time there this past summer and is working after school from 4 to 6 thirty. We don't see much of her these days. If she comes home at all it is to eat and then go to her friend's house. She makes it home by 10. Just in time for me to go to bed. She is in her last year of high school gearing up for college. She has been accepted to West Georgia. She has missed 17 days of school this year. It is very hard to get her to go. The lady in charge told her there is nothing they can do to her if she misses. It is between her and me. I fear she will mess up her college acceptance if she misses much more. She doesn't listen to me any more. Jared is no longer the sweet cuddly little boy her once was. He communicates to me in a series of grunts. Every once in a while he asks for a hug but these instances get fewer and further between. He basically doesn't need me too mucy anymore unless he wants a sandwich. I certainly don't have to entertain them 24/7. They are into their own friends and their own games. It is a little sad in some ways and in other ways a relief. They will be leaving the nest pretty soon and I have to get myself ready for that. I never want them to leave. Terry works from home everyday now. It is very nice for him and saves on gas. We have lunch together each day at noon much to his chagrin. I enjoy my coffee and bugging him as he calls it. It seems to be the only time I get to talk to him. I am going to try to blog more frequently when I have something to say. If I wait for something exciting to happen it will probably be another 5 years.
